Beaches
The metropolitan beaches span some 42 kilometres of the metropolitan coastline. There are a total of 42 beaches, which together run of 30 km (with an area of approximately two and a half million m2) and constitute one of the most used metropolitan public spaces, with more than 11 million users each year.
They are of great importance from a natural and biodiversity point of view and are the habitat of different protected species.
